Organic Gardening with Mary Ann Ihm

We were fortunate to have Mary Ann Ihm present a program on organic gardening on Tuesday, April 12th. She discussed composting, companion planting, and the culture of organic gardening. Ms. Ihm joined us from Wellspring Gardens in Newburg. Wellspring is a community supported agriculture (CSA) farm that supplies organic fruits, vegetables, and herbs to members in West Bend and Milwaukee. Wellspring is also a hostel, catering to international travellers and eco-tourists. Although attendence to this program could have been better, those who did show up were treated to valuable information. This program was part of our monthly Tuesday evening program series. Taking place on the second Tuesday of every month at 6 p.m., we invite local artisans and educators to the library to give a short program for the community. Previous presenters include The Washington Co. Historical Society and the Wisconsin Quilt History Project. Next month, Wisconsin researcher and sportswriter Todd Mishler. He will be talking about Wisconsin sports including the Milwaukee Brewers, subject of his newest book Baseball In Beertown: America’s Pastime In Milwaukee.
