Rome wasn’t built in a day, right? Neither was a massive online consortium of public and school libraries in Wisconsin. You’ve noticed odd things happening: someone pushed a button somewhere and sent fake overdue e-mail notices out to everyone in the system, people with the same first and last name and middle initial have been merged into one account, due dates are not the same as they were, patron PIN numbers have been randomly created, etc. etc. etc. And there are more issues that only the staff has to deal with–like the fact that we are having a hard time cataloging anything or running reports.
We are sorry about this and please be assured that the staff at the Mid-Wisconsin Federated Library System is working to smooth out the bumpy roads of this transition. While this transition hasn’t been ideal, we have been up and running for almost 2 weeks and the light at the end of the tunnel is getting brighter. When functioning properly, our new automated system will be a glorious thing to experience. I think.
If you have any comments or questions, please feel free to call, e-mail, or stop by to chat. It’s your library after all!
