The Kewaskum Public Library has resumed regular operating hours.
Based on the guidelines from the CDC, Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation and the Washington Ozaukee Health Department Blueprint for re-opening FAQ, we have taken protective measures to ensure the safety of library users and staff.
Here is our latest guidelines for updated 01/07/2021
Essential Public Services
Our initial focus will be on providing essential public services. This includes; browsing and check out of material, picking up holds and staff assisted placing of holds, using the internet including our catalog, and print services of printing, photocopying and scanning. We are also offering curbside pickup of holds if you prefer to remain in your vehicle. Call us at (262) 626-4312 to arrange for this.
The occupancy of the library is limited to 10 people including staff. Please do not use the library to congregate with friends or bring in your family at this time. We are asking you to limit your time in the library to 1 hour. There is limited seating in the library. We will not be able to accommodate children after school in groups or be a pickup point for parents. Additionally, the use of the library’s telephone will be prohibited for anyone except staff.
Masks & Social Distancing
All staff members are required to wear masks while working. Library users should also be wearing face coverings per Executive Order 82 through March 31. If you do not have a face covering, we do have a limited supply available. We also ask that library users practice social distancing by staying six feet away from other people. Please stay home if you are not feeling well.
Staff will clean high touch surfaces frequently while we are open. This includes but is not limited to public computer hardware and areas, tables, chairs, desks, counters and bathrooms.
While Kewaskum Public Library is doing everything possible to keep the library building clean and sanitary, we cannot guarantee a germ-free environment. Entering and using the library will be at your own risk.
Computer / Internet Access
We have limited public computers available and you will need to request access from the staff member on duty. Your computer time will be limited to 2 hours per day.
You can use our WiFi on your own devices inside or outside the building. It is on 24/7 for outside use. You can print from your own device while connected to our network. Please ask a staff member for assistance if you have questions.
Returns / Due Dates
Items returned are quarantined for 24 hours and will not be removed from your account until the quarantine period is over. These items will be backdated so as not to receive unnecessary fines. Loan periods have been restored back to what they were prior to our closure in March. Indoor book returns are closed and we are not accepting returns at the circulation desk. Please use the outdoor book returns.
The Library is not accepting donations of books or other materials at this time. Please do not put donations in the book returns. Any donated materials found in the book returns shall be discarded.
Most in-person programming has been suspended until further notice. We are continuing to offer our grab and go kits for all ages. The Library will continue to offer virtual programming through our Facebook page.
Tutoring and Virtual Learning Services
The Library is unable to accommodate tutoring sessions while there are still occupancy restrictions in place by the Washington Ozaukee County Health Department. We are also unable to accommodate students and educators as a virtual learning space. Please see our Educator & Parent Resources page for helpful information.
