Place a hold

  • First you need a library card. Please come in during open hours to get one–they are free! All we need is a valid form of identification that proves you are YOU and that you live in Wisconsin.
  • loginYou have a library card? Good! Now go to the catalog.
  • In the upper right hand corner of the library catalog website, type in your library card number (without spaces) and your PIN. Your PIN should be the last four digits of your phone number. Call the library if you do not know your PIN.
  • When you are logged in, the upper right hand corner will be empty.
  • Now, do a search. Try a combination of search terms using the word “and” between each word. Like this: “dogs and training” or “robots and dvds” or “oatmeal and north korea.” If you know the exact spelling of the author’s name or have the exact title, a title or author search works faster than a “words or phrase” keyword search.

  • When you have found what you want, click the red “place hold.” If you want more information about the item, click on the link to the title. That’s the blue text. This will take you to another screen, with more information including which library owns the item, if the item is checked out, and other information.
  • After you have clicked “place hold,” you will be taken to a screen that confirms where you want to pick up your item. Please make sure the item will be sent to your local library (Kewaskum!). On this second screen, you can also suspend your hold or expire your hold. Usually, you’ll just click the “place hold” button.hold2
  •  When you click the blue “place hold” button, you will be taken to another screen. We’ll call this the “hold confirmation screen.” That’s it! You’re done! Now click on the “OK” button and go and put some more things on hold.yay!
